CARFREE CANADA — A PLANNED CAR-FREE COMMUNITY
This website is dedicated to those Canadians who’ve dreamed of living in a car-free community and would be willing to someday make their dream a reality. The goal of the website is to bring these like-minded people together first in cyberspace so that they may eventually come together in real time and space.
The website will build a database of those who may at some point wish to relocate to a car free community in Canada. This will also allow an assessment of Canadian public interest in automobile free communities. The new e-dialogue [or blog] provides a forum for discussion of the best means for reaching this goal.
It is assumed that those interested in joining a car free community will most likely bring with them a host of other socially and environmentally responsible lifestyle choices, thus no expectations are made in this regard. Rather it is hoped that an integrated mosaic of these approaches and orientations will be realized with minimal conflict and maximum contagiousness. Freedom from the oppressive problems associated with automobility will instead be the root that firmly plants the community.
